Some things to keep in mind after crown lengthening surgery
- After surgery, when the anesthetic wears off, you will have discomfort around the gum area that has just been treated. This feeling will end after a few days.
- After completing the crown lengthening process, you should use a cold pack on the surgical area. This helps reduce pain and swelling.
- You should avoid eating hard foods after surgery. Soft and liquid foods such as porridge and soup will make you eat easier and will not affect the gum area that has just been treated.
- When brushing your teeth, you should avoid the area of the teeth and gums that have just been operated on.
After being examined and consulted, the dentist will review your molars and health, then take an X-ray so you can visualize the final results and get feedback before starting. Before surgery, your teeth will need to be cleaned to remove tatar.
The length of surgery depends on the number of teeth and your oral condition. In cases of good oral health, the minor surgery will be completed within 1–1.5 hours. If your tooth is decayed or cracked, the dentist needs to conduct treatment before performing surgery.
